RT Interoperability Consortium
In June 2005, the Registered Traveler Interoperability Consortium (RTIC) was formed by a group of airports in collaboration with AAAE's Transportation Security Policy staff to establish common business rules and technical standards to create a permanent, interoperable and vendor-neutral Registered Traveler program. Shortly thereafter, in October 2005, the RTIC announced the formation of a Service Provider Council. The consortium established the Service Provider Council as a way for service providers and interested commercial organizations to participate in the development of the technical and business processes required for RT.
Throughout 2006, the RTIC worked aggressively to define, develop and implement the Registered Traveler program at interested airports. In particular, during the summer of 2006, 20 representatives from the Service Provider Council from more than 10 different organizations dedicated over 500 work hours to create the RTIC Technical Interoperability Specification, a technical standards document that has been approved by the Transportation Security Administration and serves as the technical requirements for the interoperable RT program in place at more than 20 airports today.
Detailed information about the RTIC, including participating airports and commercial organizations, can be found on the RTIC Web site at www.rtconsortium.org.
