Database Features

With IET, an airport's training records will always be available.

The IET system makes it easy for an airport to find and verify employee training records. The application service provider (ASP), networked to each IET workstation, automatically collects the employee's training records and tracks them in real time. These records are stored and protected on redundant, remote servers and made available back to authorized airport representatives through any web-enabled device.

AAAE actively manages and protects the training records on behalf of the airport. All data is backed up daily. AAAE ensures data integrity by utilizing overlapping Internet service providers (ISPs) and firewall protection for the on-site and remote servers.

After an airport employee completes a training course, the information is placed in a file and stored on the IET workstation. A secondary software application checks local storage every one minute. If a training record file is found, the application performs two different file functions. Initially, it transmits the record file via FTP to AAAE's central database. It then rewrites the file to a long-term storage location on the local testing system.

When the training record file arrives at the AAAE's application service provider (ASP) primary FTP site, an internal process opens the records and verifies the record format. As soon as the format is verified, the record is loaded into the central database. Once the record is inserted into the database, it is immediately available to the airport, instantly, through the on-line reporting system.

As part of our extensive disaster recovery plan, AAAE's primary ASP server has a built-in hardware redundant system. For additional protection, the association employs a secure secondary server located off-site in case of catastrophic failure, which is an exact replica of the primary system. The secondary system uses a software data replication tool to synchronize the employee's records and the reporting database on both servers.

Imagine - never losing an employee training record ever again.
