Chris Runde is the Director of the Airport Innovation Accelerator at the American Association of Airport Executives. The Innovation Accelerator is a hub for airports, innovators, government leaders, and industry partners to advance innovative solutions in aviation.
Chris served in numerous executive, aviation-related positions in the public and private sector before joining AAAE. As a consultant with Accenture, Mr. Runde managed the background check database for over 45,000 newly hired TSA employees and was ultimately hired over as a Federal employee.
Over the course of 6 years, Mr. Runde served as a lead in numerous key initiatives including the Screening Gateway, ACIS (airport biometric credentialing), and the first deployment of PreCheck as a core member of the Risk-based Security team. Mr. Runde left TSA to join a venture-backed software company based in Silicon Valley (AlertEnterprise) to drive growth in the government and transportation sectors.
Mr. Runde has a Bachelor’s of Science in System Engineering from the University of Virginia and resides in the DC/Baltimore area with his wife and three boys.
