Message from Conference Host

Boston Logan International Airport is proud to host the 91st gathering of airport executives in 2019 when more than 2,250 airport operators and industry representatives convene for the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) conference from June 16 through June 19, 2019 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

Since its founding in 1928, AAAE has been an industry leader, pushing us forward in safety, security and the environment. Air travel remains the safest and most responsible form of transportation in history and the theme of our 2019 gathering is “Building on Success.” The AAAE conference is the premier destination to build alliances, find inspiration and exchange practical information that will keep our industry on the forefront of change.

The Boston gathering promises to be memorable and exciting as delegates from around the country gather in one of America’s oldest and most historic cities, where America’s past comes to life through such familiar landmarks as Boston’s Freedom Trail, the Old North Church, Faneuil Hall, the Bunker Hill and USS Constitution pavilions, Paul Revere’s House, and much more. Yet, old and historic Boston has also transformed itself in the past decade into a modern and exciting center of commerce, education and medical innovation with a redrawn skyline, new corporate headquarters and a vibrant waterfront district in South Boston, a thriving cruise business, and modern transportation facilities.

Logan Airport is part of that transformation. In recent years Logan and our airline partners have invested in capital improvements to create a modern international gateway with new and renovated terminals, more efficient roadways, expanded parking and more concessions and customer amenities than ever before. And last year, we set a new record with more than 38 million passengers flying through Logan, due in part to our success as one of the fastest-growing airports for new international nonstop development, targeting cities in Asia, the Middle East and South America.

In recent years, Logan also opened the world’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certified airline terminal, with LEED Gold certification as our standard design goal for all future development. In 2015, with funding from the FAA, Logan International Airport became one of the first airports in the country to incorporate climate change into a sustainability plan. And we installed the nation’s first, fully-automated system for screening 100% of checked baggage, as well as developed a threat recognition program being replicated at airports across the United States. As your host, all of us at Boston Logan International Airport look forward to showing off our hometown, one of the world’s great cities. Welcome to Boston in 2019!
