Message from Conference Host

Denver International Airport (DEN) is delighted to host the 92nd American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) conference May 10-13, 2020 at the Colorado Convention Center. It will be an exciting year for DEN as we celebrate our 25th anniversary. We welcome you to explore all that our airport and the Mile High City have to offer while you take in the great speakers and presentations we will have during the conference.

In just over 90 years, the AAAE has grown from an informal gathering of 10 airport directors to a professional association representing over 6,700 individual members and 4,800 airport professionals from 875 different airports. Offering invaluable representation in Washington, D.C., wide-ranging industry services and worldwide professional development services, AAAE is clearly our industry’s premier association.

We expect more than 2,400 AAAE members in Denver and look forward to a spectacular opportunity to share ideas, discuss challenges and confer with industry leaders. Together we’ll surely decode the unknown future of aviation and maybe even solve the many conspiracies surrounding DEN.

After hours, you’ll find Denver’s wide variety of brew pubs, restaurants, museums and nightlife a pleasant distraction from the day’s activities. And just beyond Denver’s urban sophistication lies the world’s greatest outdoor recreation area – the Rocky Mountains. Whether late-season skiing, hiking, mountain biking or simply sightseeing, Colorado’s alpine setting should not be missed.

DEN is the gateway to the Rocky Mountain Region and the area’s largest economic engine, pumping more than $26 billion into the economy annually. Sitting on 34,000 acres of land, DEN boasts six non-intersecting runways with room to add six more in the future. Its mid-continental location continues to stimulate record-setting passenger traffic to 215 nonstop destinations, including 26 international cities in 12 countries. In 2018, more than 64.5 million passengers flew through Denver and we are expecting another record year in 2019.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, DEN is preparing for the future with a $3.5 billion capital improvement program. Improvements include renovating the iconic, tented Jeppesen Terminal, adding 39 new gates, increasing capacity on our train to the gates, renovating our restrooms and much more. We appreciate your patience as we stage DEN for an even more exciting future with enhanced security, improved efficiency and revitalized passenger experiences.

We look forward to showing you our beautiful city and learning from each of you as we work together to make a stronger aviation industry.

Sincerely,

Kim Day
