AAAE Non-academic Conference Scholarship Program

Two of the top reasons airport professionals join AAAE are for the outstanding professional development and networking opportunities provided at our conferences.  However, we recognize that participation in conferences can be a cost-prohibitive investment for airport or personal budgets.  AAAE established the Non-academic Conference Scholarship Program to provide airport professionals, who may not otherwise be able to attend, with the opportunity to participate in important industry gatherings.

Building on the success of the first two years of this program, in 2019, AAAE will offer 24 non-academic conference scholarship opportunities  with even more meetings to choose from, as outlined below. 

In 2019, AAAE will provide the following non-academic scholarship opportunities:

  • Two: AAAE/ACC Airport Planning, Design and Construction Symposium, February 20‐22, Denver, CO
  • Two: AAAE/SC Chapter AAAE Loretta Scott, A.A.E. Accreditation/Certification Academy, March 10-15, Dallas, TX
  • Two:  AAAE/IAAE and Airports Company South Africa Africa‐U.S. Airport Issues Conference, April 8‐10 Durban, South Africa
  • Five:  91st Annual AAAE Conference and Exposition, June 16‐19, Boston, MA
  • Two:  Fifth Annual AAAE Airport Innovation Forum, dates and location TBA
  • Two: AAAE/SC Chapter AAAE Loretta Scott, A.A.E. Accreditation/ Certification Academy, July 14-19, Denver, CO
  • Two:  AAAE General Aviation Issues Conference, dates and location TBA
  • Five:  2019 AAAE F. Russell Hoyt National Airports Conference, October 6‐8, San Antonio, TX
  • Two: AAAE/SC Chapter AAAE Loretta Scott, A.A.E. Accreditation/ Certification Academy, November 17-22, Alexandria, VA

Each Non-academic Conference Scholarship will include:

  • Flights to/from the event
  • Hotel lodging during the event
  • Complimentary registration for the event
The recipient will be responsible for:
  • Transportation to/from the airport/hotel
  • Meals not included with the event
  • Hotel incidentals (room service, mini bar, tips, etc.)
  • For academies only, enrollment in the program ($200).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be an Executive or Affiliate member of AAAE in good standing at the time of application and of the event. Executive and Affiliate members are individuals who have an active full time responsibility for the management, administration, or staff functions of a public airport. Other AAAE member types are not eligible at this time.
  • Must submit a complete application, including a letter of recommendation from a supervisor who is authorized to approve travel.
  • Cannot currently be covered by a AAAE Leadership Travel Account.
  • Cannot have received a AAAE non-academic scholarship previously.
