Who is your industry mentor?

I have had different mentors at different times in my career. Larry Hedrick was my early career mentor and I had the blessing of working with him soon after he had completed his year as Chair of AAAE. George Doughty was my mid-career mentor and a past-Chair of ACI-NA and I learned volumes from him as well as from Mark Brewer, also a past Chair of AAAE. I owe a special call-out to Tim Edwards who was always there to help me walk through challenging situations.

What has being involved in AAAE meant for your career?

First and foremost, AAAE has been my professional family and the friendships and connections that I have made through AAAE have been life-long and very rewarding. The training, accreditation and continuing education offered through AAAE has made me more proficient and effective in my work. I have been particularly happy to work with AAAE on legislative issues of importance to the industry. Finally, AAAE has an incredible amount of opportunities to engage in areas of interest and to serve and give back to the profession.
