Keynote Speakers


Monday's general session will feature a keynote from Pete Souza, best-selling author, speaker, and freelance photographer, followed by a Q&A session moderated by Todd Hauptli, President & CEO of AAAE.

Pete Souza

Pete Souza was the Chief Official White House Photographer for the entire tenure of the presidency of Barack Obama. He is the author of several books, including the #1 New York Times bestsellers Obama: An Intimate Portrait and Shade: A Tale of Two Presidents. His next book, The West Wing and Beyond: What I Saw Inside the Presidency, will be published in September 2022.

A photojournalist since the late 1970s, Souza was also an official White House photographer during the Reagan administration, a freelance photographer for Life and National Geographic, and the Washington-based national photographer for the Chicago Tribune. A documentary about his work in the White House, The Way I See It, was nominated for an Emmy, and its premiere was the highest-rated non-news, non-live program in MSNBC history.

He is a professor emeritus at Ohio University’s School of Visual Communication. In 2021, Souza was inducted into the International Photography Hall of Fame. For all eight years of the Obama administration, Souza was the Chief Official White House Photographer and the Director of the White House photo office.


Tuesday's general session includes a keynote from Stanley A. Deal, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Stanley Deal

Stan Deal is executive vice president of The Boeing Company, and president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA). He is a member of Boeing’s Executive Council and serves as the company’s senior executive in the Pacific Northwest.

Stan was named to this position in October 2019. He is responsible for delivering a family of super-efficient airplanes to worldwide customers and leading the growth of the company’s commercial airplane programs.




Our Wednesday Keynote will be delivered by Luly Yang, Seattle-based Taiwanese-American fashion and product designer.

Luly Yang

Asian Hall of Fame inductee Luly Yang is a Seattle-based Taiwanese-American fashion and product designer who seeks to elevate the human experience through innovative designs.

This mission flows through a dynamic portfolio of multifaceted operations that include Luly Yang Couture, her award-winning fashion house founded in 2000, that specializes in couture red carpet evening wear, bridal, and bespoke suiting; the Luly Yang Design Group that designs and manufactures custom branded corporate uniforms; and specialty lines featuring sustainable practice, limited edition ready-to-wear separates.

She has received a Nellie Cashman Woman Business Owner of the Year Award and she’s been a fixture on Seattle’s ‘Most Influential’ lists for the past two decades. In 2021 she claimed nine IDA International Design Awards, four MUSE Creative Design Awards, and a coveted 2022 Red Dot Design Award, global recognition for excellence in Product design.

In 2016, Yang was selected to redesign the uniforms for Alaska Airlines which won the North American Uniform Manufacturers and Distributers (NAUMD) Image of the Year Award.

Luly was also commissioned by Amazon to design and produce uniforms for Amazon Delivery Service Providers, Amazon Air Associates and Pilots.
