Aira provides blind and low vision (BLV) airport passengers with a virtual concierge to navigate from curb to gate and everywhere in between (shops, restrooms, etc). Aira explorers use video-enabled smart glasses to provide remote Aira agents with a live video stream of the passenger journey and the agents provide audio navigation at each step.
The Aira Airport Network is a collaboration between AAAE and Aira created to make it easy and efficient for airports to offer the Aira service to their BLV community.
Participating airports prepay for Aira minutes so any minutes used inside the airport-defined geofence are covered by the airport. Below are the steps for joining the network.
How the Airport Network Works
Join the network by purchasing an initial block of Aira minutes from the AAAE pool
Send credit card or check payments to AAAE directly for the minutes
Set the geofence coverage area with Aira team
Monitor minute usage via the Aira Airport Network dashboard
Receive notification when your pool of minutes reaches threshold of 20%
Choose to replenish your pool or cancel; no contract required
- Subscription-based service
- Pay for the minutes you actually use (You’ll be notified when minutes are running low)
- Pay through AAAE (no contract needed) via credit card or check
- Standardized (locked-in) airport rate of $2/minute
The Aira service is purchased in batches of minutes. The airport will pay the rates noted below and can choose to purchase an additional block of minutes once the initial block runs out. There is no long-term commitment.
