Visas-Travelling to Canada
All attendees will need to have appropriate travel documents when traveling to Canada. The official requirements can vary in time, please consult the Government of Canada's web site: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit. Upon request, AAAE Will provide letters of invitation after registering and paying for the conference. Once payment has been received, please send a request for a letter to Dan Reilly and one will be emailed to you within one week.
If unsure of requirements for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) or a visitor VISA, please visit the Government of Canada website. Choose by country to find out what travel requirements for Canada.
Note that a new entry requirement is now in effect: visa-exempt foreign nationals need an ETA to fly to or transit through Canada. Exceptions include U.S. citizens, and travelers with a valid Canadian visa. Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, and Canadian permanent residents need not apply for an eTA.
Do I Need a Visa?
US citizens: In essence, the only travel document required is a valid passport, both for getting into Canada, and for returning to your country afterwards.
The rest of the Americas: Citizens of most of the countries of the Americas require visas; the Government of Canada web site does not provide a list, but you can check your country here. Even if no Visa is required, an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) might be necessary: the status of this requirement is also in flux.
The rest of the World: Please consult the website. Again, even if you are from a country like Britain or France, for which we do not require a visa, an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is necessary at this time.
Invitation Letters: The Bird Strike Association of Canada wishes to support international attendees in their efforts to secure the needed travel documentation. However, in order to receive a letter of invitation, the meeting organizers must be assured that you plan to attend the meeting if your travel request is granted. Individuals that require an official letter of invitation in order to obtain a visa and authorization to attend the meeting must complete registration and payment for the conference and request a Visa Letter of Invitation by emailing Dan Reilly.
The letter of invitation does not financially obligate the organizers in any way. All expenses incurred in relation to the conference are the sole responsibility of the attendee. Please note that the conference organizers cannot guarantee that receipt of visas. The decision to grant visas is at the sole discretion of the embassy/consulate. The conference organizers cannot change the decision of the governmental agency should applications be denied.
Advance travel planning and early visa application are important. It is recommended that you apply early for your visa.
