Session 1: COVID-19 Recovery: Updates on the U.S. Economy and the U.S. Airline Industry

In March 2020, the U.S. economy entered a deep recession surpassed only by the Great Depression. The U.S. airline industry is one of the economic sectors most negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and deep economic recession. Recent economic data signal a nascent recovery, albeit slow and protracted. This session will discuss the recent trends and recovery outlooks of the U.S. economy and the U.S. airline industry.

Even as COVID-19 depresses airport traffic and revenues to unprecedented lows, airports need to meet CIP debt service obligations and raise new money to pay for planned CIP projects. This session will provide an update on the U.S. capital markets for the airport sector. Airport public finance experts will share advice, experience, and outlook on airport bond issues under the current market environment.

This session will gather all four rating agencies to talk about how they view these short-term risks in airport credit rating, what additional new information they now seek from airports seeking credit rating, and their predictions for airport sector recovery.

Session 4: AIP, PFC, and All Things FAA

The COVID-19 traffic declines have depressed airport revenues from all sources, that federal funding has never been more important than it is today. In this session, an FAA representative will provide an update on the AIP, PFC, and CARES Act programs. Airport representatives will talk about how they’ve used CARES Act grant funds.
