This introductory session will cover the basics of how and why airports implement geospatial technologies. The session will provide background on topics such as needs assessments, implementation planning, cost/benefit of geospatial, organizational factors, data collection methods, standards, technical deployment options, new technologies to consider, training, data maintenance and support. Examples will be provided from a number of airport projects. This introductory course is ideal for those new to geospatial technology, but those interested in brushing up on some key topics before the conference begins are also welcome.
